Design sounds really interesting right? But what are these principles and elements that keep on getting mentioned in almost all forums of interior design?Today, we are here to make you understand what exactly they are so that you understand the conversation of interior design better.
Lets begin with ordering principles.
Now,a principle is a fundamental rule that forms the basis, the foundation of how systems operate. These principles are what sort of govern design and bring cohesion to what you are doing. They are about eight and we'll just list them: Symmetry,Asymmetry,Datum,Rhythm,Repetition,Hierarchy,Axis and transformation.
These principles have been developed and are clearly explained and illustrated in an architectural book which you can read for further understanding;Form ,Space and order by Francis D.K Ching which you can purchase from the link below
What about elements of design?
An element is basically a characteristic of an abstract composition. So,these are those things that you pick visually from a composition. They are those things that draw your eye onto something;depending on how they have been articulated, they are what draw your eye to an object. These are simple and we'll just list them real quick;colour, texture, line, shape, space value and form.
We'll do a more in depth description of each of the these elements in another blog post soon.
We hope this was very informative and has helped you understand these two words better.
