Cost verses Quality
It is important to note that when shopping for decor elements;a high cost or lower cost isn't directly proportional to the element of purchase;they vary. It is important that when shopping be careful an avoid generic items.Personally i prefer items that have not been mass produced as these tend to lay emphasis on quality i also prefer an items true identity ;i avoid purchasing items that for instance look like metal but are actually plastics because these tend to have a short lifespan.Look at the finishing and quality of workmanship as well.
Invest in essential pieces
Spend your money on items that are bound to stay with you for a long period of item rather than small pieces that you change often. For example, I would rather spend my money on good quality well done curtains or a carpet rather than a small magazine holder whose sole purpose is to simply to hold magazines and nothing else.
Always remember your colour and texture and pallet
As you shop around for the right decor pieces always remember the colour scheme your space has you may use it as a pop of different colour if the intention s to have it as a focal point otherwise stick to your pallet
Plan for it
There is nothing as bad as purchasing something you had completely not planed for.Take your time every month and set aside a budget for elements you wish to purchase;allocate a certain amount to each item these allows you to get exactly what you want, promotes your discipline and makes it easier for you to shop when there are offers in a variety of stores.
Take your time
More often than not, we tend to purchase items we do not really need when we purchase on impulse. Take your time ,do not be in a rush to purchase items, look at it and ask yourself what space it will occupy,if it matches your theme and most importantly if you really need it.Lets just avoid clutter.
Curate your space
This is the most important of them all.Curate your space so that it is in tune with who you are, what you like and the kind of environment you want to live in.Purchase your items slowly and carefully over a period of time. This makes even more sense when you remember that you are shopping for quality and not for quantity.Select items that have meaning to an aspect of you or the stage you are in.
Enjoy yourself while at it!
